Everyone knows we are a homeschooling family and as such we are prone to do wild and crazy things to teach the kids their schoolwork and life skills that we want them to know. Recently, Alexandra and Preston watched the movie Julie & Julia. The one about Julie Powell trying to find herself and rediscover her purpose by utilizing her personal heroine and inspiration Julia Childs and the cookbook, Mastering the Art of French Cuisine. The kids loved it. So, here we are. We are on the hunt for a great cookbook that is easy for an 8 yr old and a 10 yr old to reproduce with fantastic results....one recipe at a time, for one year, our family will cook from this cookbook. We will post pics and updates on the recipes, our comments, and even include the dismal failures that end up with food and dirty dishes from here to Timbuktu and at the end of the year....you may find out that the production of grey hair that Jason and I have on our heads has multiplied by at least one hundred times over what Miss Clairol already covers for me. So join us as we teach the kids to cook, their fractions, reading, and spending as much family time together in a small kitchen as we can!
